1000/10 really good and great service. My Pops said the food would be worth the drive to Philly. The Chicken Pho is great and so are the egg rolls and Vietnamese Coffee
Was new to this style of noodles, and I was definitely pleased with the result. Went with the quang noodles special. The noodles were delicious, a lovely texture and plentiful. The assortment of meat was very well prepared, including the shrimp, Vietnamese ham, meatballs, pork, and beef-the beef was my favorite. The sauce was flavorful and I was grateful that chili oil was available to supplement it. The space itself can seem a bit cramped. We happened to arrive at a good time when a table fitting our party as available, but it seems like the place would fill quickly so you may not get as lucky. Service was super quick. Overall, definitely worth a trek to the area for.
Cash only, no frill. I like. Any business that only accepts cash in this day and age is bold and confident in their craft. I can respect that. Food: - get the Mi Quang Specials. If you're not from Kensington and drive all the way there, you should get the specials and leave the pho ga at your local pho. I'm amazed at how flavorful the broth is, clean taste yet packed with umami. Noodles were cooked to perfection and they added a lot of protein (shrimps, chicken, pork ribs, and cha lua). Personally, i would wash it down with the coconut juice from the fridge. Ambiance: just your typical viet resto. Area is in Kensington. That's all i gotta say. 8.5/10
TLDR: one of my favorite spots in Philly! To be honest, I thought nothing of this unassuming restaurant in Kensington. I came here on recommendation by my Vietnamese friends and I thought that I had already tried all the best noods in Phily, but I was wrong. I've never had Mi Quang before - it's a turmeric chicken or pork broth, wide rice noodles, sesame rice cracker, peanuts, various proteins/meat products and herbs. It was so flavorful and addicting its been a couple weeks since I've been and I want to go back every day. Service is like any other Asian establishment growing up. Direct and quick, but helpful. Overall: try Mi Quang!
Where do I start; place is clean and there was an American couple eating there where the guy spoke a few words of Vietnamese. And the owner spoke a few words of English so the entertainment was immediate. I got Seafood Ball and Noodle Soup and it was delicious. I went on a late Saturday morning and forgot to feed the meter. The proprietor saw them coming and he warned me just in time. It's a hole in the wall under the Kensington El, but by the time I left, the tables were full, 60/40 native to American. BRING CASH, I did and will AGAIN.
